What I'm Thankful For ...
November 25th, 2009 by Diane Sam
"And did you get what
you wanted from this life, even so?
I did.
And what did you want?
To call myself beloved, to feel myself
beloved on the earth. "
— Raymond Carver
I'm thankful I wake up every morning in beside a man who loves me, makes me feel loved and protected. A family man, a provider, a 'guy's guy".
I'm thankful that across the hall sleeps two lovely little boys who seem like amazing miracles to me every single day.
I'm thankful that I wake up healthy.
I'm thankful that although there's bills to pay, meals to make, stuff to worry about, somehow it always works out.
I'm thankful that despite previously mentioned bills, meals, stuff, something deep inside of me knows I'm here for a reason, I'm following the right path, and that, in the end, everything will be, and always has been ok.
Sometimes I wonder where I get this sort of built-in faith, but regardless of where it comes from, I'm thankful it's there.
I'm thankful that in this mixed-up world, there's still hope, optimism and creativity to pull us through anything.
and I truly believe that I will live to see the day that peace reigns in the world.
Happy Thanksgiving.
(P.S. I know, as a Canadian, I celebrated Thanksgiving a month ago, but hey, back then I was too busy stuffing myself with turkey to have the time to write this! )
Let us know what you're thankful for!
