Best for Babes .... Check out their Fun, Sassy Website!

Last year at the ABC Show in Las Vegas, I had the great pleasure of meeting Danielle and Bettina, founders of the "Best for Babes" organization whose mission is to "To help moms beat the Booby Traps“–the cultural & institutional barriers that prevent moms from achieving their personal breastfeeding goals. To inspire, prepare & empower™ momsTo give breastfeeding a makeover and give moms the solutions they need to make it work!"(from their website).

Well, what a thrill it was to meet these dynamic women, who so completely represent what I had in mind when I launched MoBoleez. They are fun, pro-breastfeeding women that 'get" that women don't need to be lectured to, made to feel inadequate, told to cover up or not cover up, made to feel guilty or pressured. No, they 'get it" that we need to change the whole culture, go after the barriers to breastfeeding, and give breastfeeding a well needed makeover. Hence their fun, 'cool' website and public awareness ad campaign.

From the "Best for Babes" Website:

"In May 2009, the Best for Babes Foundation launched a public awareness campaign designed to both change the public perception of breastfeeding, and to take pressure off moms and shine a spotlight on the many barriers—a.k.a. “the booby traps”—that keep moms from achieving their personal breastfeeding goals."

One of the things I love about this campaign is that it *Completely independent of the powerful "formula' industry!* ,  and  it's smart, sassy and fun!

In the words of Sims Bulluck, co-creator of the campaign (and a mom herself): “This campaign is a breakthrough because it succeeds in making women feel emboldened  with information and motivated with a new perspective on breastfeeding.  Instead of scaring them with negatives, it celebrates this amazing gift women have with a positive and uplifting message—it is meant to turn women on instead of turning them off to breastfeeding.”

I love it, I support it 100% and I just wanted to (finally) do my part in spreading the word!

What do you think of the "Best for Babes" message and imagery? Does it make you feel empowered? Would it have influenced your decisions to breastfeed or how you felt about the experience? Is there anything you think MoBoleez could be doing to help them with their mission? We'd love to hear ideas!
